Compatibility Issues

Browser Compatibility

The standard benchmark suite should be compatible with all browsers. Presently, Java support in some browsers is a little rough around the edges, so don't be too surprised if you notice strange behaviour in Alpha and Beta versions of browsers.

The Local Tests

The Local tests, especially the Dynamic Compilation test, may not run correctly over the internet depending on the way the SecurityManager is configured for your browser. The Local tests have been run successfully under Netscape Navigator 2.01 (Win95) from a local hard disk, but will not run over the internet due to Netscape's Java security restrictions. If a security exception is thrown, the applet may stop reponding.

When running the Allocation and Garbage Collection (AGC) test over the internet, the test may return misleading results in Netscape's "Untrusted Java Applet" window. When run locally, the AGC test window is correctly sized.
